Chicken 65 is one of the popular South Indian starter made with boneless chicken. Either use breast piece or thigh piece to make this snack. This is one of the fast moving items in the roadside shop. This can be served as a snack or a starter in a party.
While the name Chicken 65 is universally used to refer to the dish, there are many different stories for how the name came about. It is generally acknowledged that no one knows which of these anecdotal theories are correct. Some say the masala used is made of 65 ingredients and some say Chicken 65 is alleged to be a dish introduced in 1965 at the famous Buhari Hotel restaurant in Chennai by its founder A.M.Buhari, a pioneer in the South Indian food industry. Also, some say that it used to be the 65th menu in a restaurant. The name is also claimed to relate to a requirement for the meat to be from 65-day-old chickens.

Whatever the name may claim, we are always fond of this Chicken 65. Even kids love this dish for its simplicity. It is one of the simple recipes made with chicken. Marinate the chicken with the specified spices for an hour. Deep fry or shallow fry it in the oil and enjoy. Let us see how to prepare this recipe.
- 250 gms Chicken boneless
- 1/4 tsp Turmeric powder
- 1 tsp Chili powder
- 1 tsp Ginger Garlic Paste
- 1/2 tsp Pepper powder
- 1/2 tsp Garam Masala Powder
- 1 tbsp Lemon juice
- 1/2 tsp Red Color optional
- 1 tbsp Corn Flour
- 1/2 Egg
- salt to taste
- oil to deep fry
- 2 strand Curry leaves
- 1 tbsp Coriander leaves finely chopped
- Thoroughly wash and cut the chicken into 1-inch piece. In a bowl add chicken and other ingredients specified under "To Marinate". Mix chicken and ingredients thoroughly, close the lid and refrigerate it for one hour.
- Heat a kadai, add oil. Once oil gets heated add the marinated chicken pieces one by one and fry till golden brown or till chicken turns crisp. Do not over crowd the chicken.
- Once cooked remove the chicken on a kitchen towel. In the same oil fry the curry leaves and spread on the chicken. Garnish with coriander leaves. Chicken 65 is ready to relish.
- Food color is optional. If you don't want to add skip it.
- If you want the chicken to be spicier add fried green chilies at last. Also, increase the quantity of chili powder and pepper powder.
- It is necessary to marinate chicken for an hour in the refrigerator.
