Aloo Tikki is very popular North India snack found in all roadside shops. This is made up of the mashed potatoes mixed with other spices. This can be made in 2 different ways by either simply making it as a plain patty or can be made as a stuffed patty.
Aloo Tikki can be either deep fried or shallow fried. You can either use peas masala for stuffing or paneer masala as a stuffing. You can even simply mix peas along with potato and make plain Tikki as I have shown here. Aloo Tikki can be served hot or warm along with the tamarind chutney or coriander mint chutney. You can even serve this Tikki along with yogurt and chickpea. You can even make the Indian version of the burger which is referred as potato burger.
Mashed potato along with chopped onion, green chilies, spices are mixed and made into patties. There are fried in oil until crisp on the outside. In order to bind the ingredients well, I have used cornflour. Instead of cornflour, you can also make use of breadcrumbs, all-purpose flour, arrowroot powder or even you can add a piece of bread too. With this single Aloo Tikki, we can make numerous dishes like chaat, ragada patties, potato burger, paratha and much more which we are going to see in the further posts. Now let us see how to prepare this recipe.
