Potato Podimas is a simple and easy accompaniment which is almost loved by all. This is the only vegetable which is eaten by kids without any drama. This podimas goes well with onion sambar and rasam. You can also relish this with any other kuzhambu or sambars.
Potato Podimas is a South Indian side dish, which is made with available ingredients in our pantry. Even a novice can prepare this without any hassle. Finely chop the potatoes, add chili powder and salt, fry in the medium-slow flame till the potatoes become crispy. It is that easy to prepare.
Ingredients
- 3 Potato
- 1 tbsp Chilli powder
- 1/4 tsp Turmeric powder
- 1 tsp Mustard,chana dal,urad dal
- salt to taste
- 2 tbsp oil

Instructions
- Keep ingredients ready. Wash potato thoroughly. Peel the skin with a peeler. Finely chop the potatoes.
- Place the potatoes in water, so that its colour will not change. Now heat a Kadai, add oil. Once oil gets heated, add mustard seed and let it crackle. Now rinse chopped potato, drain all the water. Add the potato and saute for 2-3 minutes.
- Now add chilli powder, turmeric powder, salt to taste and saute in low flame for 15 minutes or till the potato becomes crispier. stir in between. Podimas is ready to relish.
Recipe Notes
- While sauteeing do not add any water.
- Make sure you cook in slow flame till it becomes crispier.
- To enhance flavour you can add curry leaves and sambar powder too.
- If you like peppery flavour skip chilli powder and add pepper powder.
