Egg Puff is one of the fastest moving and delicious snack in all pastry shops. This Puff can be prepared easily at home with available ingredients. I had store-bought readymade puff pastry at home. So thought of making this to have it in the cold evening with a cup of tea.
Using this ready made pastry sheets, we can make so many delicious snacks which I will be posting soon one by one. As we make use of ready-made pastry sheets it takes only 20-25 minutes to prepare this puff. We used to relish this puff in a nearby pastry shop and wanted to try it. With simple home available ingredient, it turned out well and tastes awesome. Crispy and crunchy flaky puff with soft and spicy inside. Let us see how to prepare this delicacy.
- 4 Puff pastry sheets
- 2 Eggs
- 1 Onion
- 1 Tomato
- 1 tsp Ginger Garlic Paste
- 1/4 tsp Turmeric powder
- 1 tsp Chilli powder
- 1 tsp Coriander powder
- 1/2 tsp Garam Masala Powder
- 1 strand Curry leaves
- 1 tsp Mustard /kadugu
- 1 tbsp Coriander leaves chopped
- 3 tsp oil
- salt to taste
- Keep all the ingredients ready. Bring puff pastry to room temperature. Preheat oven to 200 degrees for 10 minutes. Boil eggs for 10 minutes, peel the shell and cut egg to two pieces and set aside. Chop onion and tomato.
- To make the filling, heat a Kadai, add oil. Once oil gets heated add mustard seed and let it crackle. Then add onion, curry leaves and saute till onion becomes translucent. Now add ginger garlic paste and saute till raw smell goes.
- Add tomato and saute till it becomes mushy. Then add turmeric powder, chili powder, coriander powder, garam masala, salt to taste and saute for few more minutes. Now garnish with coriander leaves and set aside.
- Now align baking tray with aluminum foil. Place the pastry sheets. Then add a tbsp of the filling prepared on each pastry sheet. Then place the egg on each pastry sheets.
- Now fold the sheets on both sides as shown in the picture. Spray a little oil on each pastry folded. Now bake in oven at 200 degrees for 10-12 minutes. Crunchy egg puff is ready.
- Don't defrost pastry sheets using the microwave.
- Keep pastry sheets at room temperature to defrost and cover it using a damp cloth.
- You can make puff in any desired design.
- Before adding ingredients to the pastry sheet, stretch it a little bit, so that it would be easy to fold.
- Make sure the filling is cooled completely before placing on the sheet.
