Chicken Leg Fry is one of the easiest fries which can be prepared by anyone. It can be prepared in a number of ways like roasted, sauteed, pan fried, grilled or even baked. If chicken fry is on the menu, then it would be the families favorite part.
Here I am showing one of the easiest pressure cook methods. This can be prepared using a Kadai too. I am using limited spices for tempering and only chili powder and garam masala powder for the fry. If you like to have spicier can add 2 slit green chilies while sauteeing onion or an extra tsp of chili powder. Or else if you like pepper flavor, instead of adding green chili or chili powder add a tbsp of pepper powder. The method of making drumstick is endless. Add or remove ingredients according to your needs. This simple method can be prepared even by the bachelors. This can be had as a starter or appetizer or as an accompaniment with Chicken Kurma and Rasam. Let us now see how to prepare this drumstick fry.
- 6 pieces Chicken Drumstick
- 1 Onion small
- 1 Tomato small
- 1 tsp Ginger Garlic Paste
- 1/4 tsp Turmeric powder
- 1 tbsp Chili powder
- 1 tsp Garam Masala Powder
- 1 strand Curry leaves
- 1 tbsp Coriender leaves finely chopped
- salt to taste
- 2 tbsp oil
- 2 Clove/Lavangam
- 1 inch Cinnamon stick/Pattai
- 1/2 tsp Whole Pepper
- 1/2 tsp Fennel seed/Sombu
- Wash chicken drumstick thoroughly using salt and water. Finely chop onion and tomato. Heat a pressure cooker and add oil. Once oil gets heated add ingredients one by one as listed in "To temper". Now add onion, curry leaves and saute till onion becomes translucent. Then add ginger garlic paste. Saute till the raw smell goes.
- Then add tomato and saute till it becomes mushy. Now add turmeric powder, chili powder, garam masala powder and saute for a minute. Then add the chicken legs.
- Saute the chicken until it turns white. Now add 1/4 cup of water and pressure cook for 2-3 whistles. Once pressure releases cook till all the water is evaporated. Chicken drumstick is ready. Garnish with coriander leaves.
- I used limited masalas. You can even add bay leaves, star anise to temper.
- Use an equal amount of ginger garlic to make the paste.
- If you want spicier can add 2 slit green chilies while sauteeing onion or an extra tsp of chili powder.
- If you like pepper flavor, instead of adding green chili or chili powder add a tbsp of pepper powder.
