Egg Potato Roll is an appetizer or snack which can be prepared easily for any parties. It is made of spiced mashed potato stuffed with boil egg. This snack is loved by all.
This I saw in a TV show 10-12 years ago. But exactly don’t remember to whom this recipe belongs. But from then this became a great hit in our house. My hubby is a great fan of this Egg Potato Roll. We very often make this snack, so thought of sharing this recipe with you all. This can be had as an appetizer or as a snack or even can be had for dinner. Just with 3 rolls, I am sure your tummy will be full as it has lots of potato and egg in it.

I made it very simple by adding only 2 green chilies for the entire recipe. As it is less spicy even kids would love to have it. Again it is up to you to add or reduce the ingredients. If you want spicier then add more green chilies or even you can add coarsely crushed pepper. To enhance flavor you can also add chopped capsicum. I will not suggest adding tomato as it makes Egg Potato Roll Soggy. Now let us see how to prepare this recipe.
- 3 Eggs
- 5 Potatoes medium size
- 1 Onion small size
- 2 Green chilies
- 1 tsp Garam Masala Powder
- 2 tbsp Coriander leaves finely chopped
- 1/2 Cup Bread crumbs
- salt to taste
- 1 Cup oil to deep fry
- Boil eggs in water for 10 minutes. Cool it and Peel the outer shell. Cut eggs into two halves and set aside. Pressure cook potatoes for 3 whistles. Once pressure releases drain it completely, peel the skin and set aside. Finely chop onion and green chilies.
- Place potatoes in a wide bowl. Mash it thoroughly using a fork. Then add finely chopped onion, green chilies, coriander leaves, garam masala powder and salt to taste.
- Mix all the ingredients thoroughly. Now make 6 equal size balls from the potato mixture.
- Now take a ball and split it into two portions. Pat the first portion as shown, keep half of the egg upside down on the patted minced potato, now again on the top of the egg place the remaining portion of the minced potato.
- Make it into a ball shape. Make sure egg is in the center of the minced potato. Now coat the egg roll with bread crumbs and set aside. Refrigerate the egg rolls for at least one hour to set.
- Now heat a Kadai, add oil. Once oil gets heated add egg potato roll and deep fry on both sides until golden brown. Once cooked remove it on a kitchen towel to remove excess oil. Egg potato roll is ready.
- Do not add any water while making egg potato roll.
- It is important to refrigerate egg potato roll for an hour, in order to retain its shape while frying.
- If egg potato roll is set and firm, it will absorb less oil.
- You can even add chopped capsicum and crushed pepper for more flavor.
- Serve with tomato ketchup or green chutney.
