Cheesy Potato Lollipop as the name suggests this lollipop is made of mashed spicy potato stuffed with cheese. One of the quick evening snack which can be prepared with ease. This can be prepared as a kids party appetizer too.
To make crack free Cheesy Potato Lollipop – Pressure cook potatoes for 3 whistles. Once pressure releases, drain the water completely. Peel the skin. Either grate potatoes or mash with a fork. Add all the ingredients listed below and make smooth balls out of it. Also, place cheese in the center and make a firm ball. Coat ball with all-purpose flour and water mix. Then roll it in the breadcrumbs. Before deep frying, it is necessary to refrigerate the balls at least for an hour. Then deep fry or shallow fry the balls in a medium heat. Serve it with tomato sauce or green chutney according to your taste.

You can either use homemade breadcrumbs or store bought one. For homemade one, if any leftover bread is lying in the pantry, crumble it using a mixer and dry it in Sun for a day or two. Then store it an air tight container and use it when needed. I have used green chilies if you are making for kids then use crushed pepper instead of green chilies. Now let us see how to prepare this Cheesy Potato Lollipop.
- 2 Potatoes medium size
- 1/4 cup Bread crumbs + 1 cup for coating
- 10 pieces Mozzarella/cheddar Cheese 1/2 inch size
- 1 Onion
- 1 Green chili
- 1 tsp Chaat Masala Powder
- 1 tsp Ginger Garlic Paste
- 2 tbsp Coriander leaves finely chopped
- 1 tbsp All purpose flour/Maida
- salt to taste
- oil to deepfry
- Pressure cook potatoes for 3 whistles, peel the skin and set aside. Cut cheese to small cubes. Finely chop onion, green chili, and coriander leaves.
- In a wide bowl add potatoes. Mash it thoroughly. Add onion, green chili, chaat masala powder, ginger garlic paste, coriander leaves, salt to taste and mix it thoroughly. Make small lemon size ball.
- Place cheese in the center and make into smooth round balls. In a bowl mix all purpose flour with water and make a paste.
- Coat the ball with the all-purpose flour paste and then cover it with bread crumbs. Follow the process for the remaining balls. Keep the made balls in the refrigerator for at least one hour to set.
- Then heat a pan, add oil. Once oil gets heated add prepared balls one by one. Gently flip it until all sides are cooked and turns golden brown. Once done remove it on a kitchen towel. Insert a toothpick into each ball and the cheesy potato lollipop is ready.
- I have used green chilies, instead, you can use crushed pepper or chili flakes.
- You can also add chopped capsicum, boiled corns etc.
- I have used cheddar cheese, you can even use mozzarella cheese or any other cheese of your choice. You can even skip the cheese.
- Non-vegetarians can add cooked minced chicken instead of potatoes.
