Spicy Potato Fry is a South Indian side dish which pairs well with all main course. This recipe is very simple and can be prepared within 10 mins. Who doesn’t like potatoes? This can be relished in any form. One of the vegetables which are loved by all. This potato fry can be had as an accompaniment with Onion Sambar, Paruppu Rasam, Curd Rice or any pulao or variety rice. With few ingredients, this fry tastes awesome. Now let us see how to prepare this Spicy Potato Fry.
- 3 Potatoes medium size
- 1/4 tsp Turmeric powder
- 1 tsp Chili powder
- 1 tsp Pepper powder
- 1 tsp Mustard,chana dal,urad dal
- 1 strand Curry leaves
- 3 Garlic pod small
- 1 tbsp oil
- salt to taste
- Wash and pressure cook potatoes for 2 whistles. Let them cool completely. Peel the skin and cut to one inch size and set aside. Using mortar and pestal crush the garlic pods.
- Heat a pan, add oil. Once oil gets heated add mustard and curry leaves. Let them crackle. Then add garlic paste and saute till raw smell goes. Then add turmeric powder, chili powder, and pepper powder.
- Saute them for a minute. Then add potatoes and mix it thoroughly.
- Then add required salt, mix it and fry till potatoes becomes crispy. Spicy potato fry is ready.
- Don't skip garlic it gives a nice flavor to the dish.
- You can either use ghee or oil to fry potatoes.
- If you want it spicier, you can even add a chopped green chili.
- Don't over cook potatoes to a mushy consistency.
