Potato Tawa Fry is a popular side dish which pairs well with rice. This crispy fry takes only less oil and tastes awesome. This goes well with curd rice or any rice. This should be cooked on low flame to get the crispy texture.
If you make this less spicy, kids too would like to have it along with the curd rice. Potatoes can be made in many ways and one shown here is one of the methods. To make this crispies make sure not to over boil the potatoes. Instead of corn flour, you can use rice flour or all purpose flour to bind the ingredients. Roast it on low flame only. Roast in batches. Do not overcrowd. Add oil on both sides while cooking. Now let us see how to prepare this recipe.

- 2 Potatoes medium size
- 1/4 tsp Turmeric powder
- 1 tsp Chili powder
- 1 tsp Garam Masala Powder
- 1 tsp Sambar powder
- 1 tsp Ginger Garlic Paste
- 2 tbsp Corn Flour
- 1 tsp Lemon juice
- salt to taste
- 2 tbsp oil
- Boil potatoes to 3 whistles. Peel the skin and cut potatoes into thick round slices. In a bowl add all the ingredients except oil and potatoes. Add little water and mix to idli batter consistency. That is to a thick consistency.
- Now drop potatoes one by one and apply masala to all. Heat a tawa, add a tsp of oil. Once oil gets heated add potatoes one by one. Do not overcrowd. Add little oil to the potatoes. Cook on low flame on both sides until crisp. Potato tawa fry is ready.
- Using the same method you can fry sweet potato and raw banana.
- Do not over boil potatoes.
- Instead of corn flour, you can use rice flour or all purpose flour too.
- Increase or decrease spices according to your taste and preference.
- Roast it on low flame only. Roast in batches. Do not overcrowd.
