Paneer Tikka is a delicious starter or snack which is loved by all irrespective of the age. We can prepare restaurant style paneer tikka at home easily. Even if you don’t own a tandoor, you can prepare this on tawa or grill.
You can see that I have provided so many ingredients on the list. You can adjust ingredients according to your taste, but do not skip any. Also, don’t forget to dry roast the Bengal gram flour before adding into the mix. This recipe is very simple to prepare. We need to marinate paneer, capsicum, onion along with the given ingredients for at least 2 hrs. If you don’t have time try to marinate at least for 30 mins so that all the masala will get infused into the paneer. Then place the marinade on the skewer and grill it on low flame until it turns golden brown on all sides. Now let us see how to prepare this recipe.

- 250 gms Paneer/Indian Cheese
- 1 Onion
- 1 Capsicum
- 1/2 Cup Yoghurt/Curd
- 2 tbsp Bengal gram flour/Kadalai Maavu
- 1 tbsp Ginger Garlic Paste
- 2 tsp Kashmiri Red Chili Powder
- 1 tsp Coriander powder
- 1/2 tsp Turmeric powder
- 1/2 tsp Garam Masala Powder
- 1/2 tsp Chaat Masala Powder
- 1/2 tsp Roasted Cumin Powder
- 1/2 tsp Dry Fenugreek Leaves
- 1/4 tsp Omam/Ajwain/Carom seed
- 1/2 Lemon juice
- salt to taste
- 4 tbsp oil
- Dice Paneer, onion, capsicum to one-inch size and set aside. Slightly roast Bengal gram flour before adding to the mix. In a wide bowl add all the ingredients along with 2 tbsp oil (except capsicum, onion, paneer, 2 tbsp oil) and mix well. If the mix is too thick, sprinkle water little and mix well. Now add paneer and mix thoroughly in the batter.
- Once paneer is coated well in the batter, add capsicum, onion and mix again. Close the lid and let it marinate for 2 hrs.
- After 2 hrs arrange paneer, onion, capsicum in the desired order in a skewer. Heat a tawa or grill. Place the skewer on the grill and add little oil to each skewer. Grill it until all sides are done well or turned to golden brown in color. Remove it to a plate and serve hot with green chutney or chutney of your choice.
- You need to marinate at least for two hours for best result.
- You can increase or decrease the ingredients according to your taste.
- Don't forget to dry roast Bengal gram flour as it gives a nice flavor to the tikka.
- Grill it or cook it on tawa on low flame only.
- You can even grill it on an OTG.
- Non-vegetarians can replace paneer with boneless chicken.
