Crispy thin Potato Chips can be prepared very easily at home. This is a popular snack which is almost loved by all. I used chili powder for the flavor. You can tweak your own flavor of your choice.
You can either deep fry potato chips or microwave or bake in an oven if you are diet conscious. Here we are going to see how to deep fry potato chips. If you follow this step you will surely end up with a crispy and crunchy potato chip. First, try to slice potatoes as thin as possible. then keep it in water for half an hour. Then drain the water completely, dry it with paper tissue or cotton cloth. Then spread the potato slices in one layer on a cotton cloth and let it dry completely for half an hour. You can even sundry for half an hour.
Once all the water is completely evaporated, deep fry potatoes in small batches in warm oil and remove when they start to turn golden brown. Once you have completed frying all the potatoes, while they are still warm sprinkle some salt and chili powder or pepper and toss it thoroughly. Crispy and crunchy potato chips are ready. - 4 Potatoes medium size
- 1 tsp Chili powder
- salt to taste
- 1 cup oil to deepfry
- Wash potatoes thoroughly. Peel the skin using a peeler. Slice the potatoes as thin as possible. Better use a food processor or a mandoline slicer to slice the potatoes thinly.
- Place the sliced potatoes in a bowl of water. Wash it thoroughly and drain the water completely. Then spread the potato slices in one layer on a cotton cloth and let it dry completely for half an hour. You can even sundry for half an hour.
- Potato slices should be completely dry when you gather them it should not stick with each other. Heat oil in a kadai. Oil should be on low flame only. Deep fry potatoes in small batches in warm oil and remove when they start to turn golden brown.
- Remove the potato chips and place it on a kitchen towel. While potato chips are still warm add salt and chili powder and toss well. So that salt and chili would coat well on each potato chips. Potato chips are ready. Serve hot.
- For best result slice potatoes as thin as possible.
- Wash potato slices and dry it completely before deep frying in the oil.
- Oil should be on low flame only.
- Deep fry potatoes in small batches in warm oil and remove when they start to turn golden brown.
- Season potato chips with your favorite seasoning. I used chili powder for seasoning you can use pepper powder instead.
