Raw Banana Fry/Vazhakkai Fry is a simple South Indian accompaniment which goes well with sambar, rasam or curd rice. We can prepare so many dishes using this raw banana. We can make raw banana tawa fry, raw banana bajji, raw banana poriyal using coconut, banana chips, gravies and much more.
Raw Banana has so many health benefits and should be consumed regularly. Unlike a yellow banana, you can eat raw banana only after they are either boiled or fried. This has very high fiber content. This is even good for diabetic patients as this contains a low amount of sugar. Raw Banana is rich in vitamins. Boiled raw banana has more fiber than a fried raw banana. Today we are going to see the simple method of preparing this raw banana fry. Now let us see how to prepare this recipe.
- 1 Raw Banana/Vazhakkai
- 1/4 tsp Turmeric powder
- 1/2 tsp Chili powder
- 1/2 tsp Pepper powder
- 1/4 tsp Garam Masala Powder
- 1/4 tsp Ginger Garlic Paste
- 1 strand Curry leaves
- salt to taste
- 2 tbsp oil
- Cut head, tailpiece of the raw banana and peel the outer skin. Then cut it into half inch cubes as shown. In a bowl add cubed raw banana, turmeric powder, salt little, water half cup and boil for 2-3 mins until banana is cooked 3/4th. Once done drain the water completely.
- In a bowl add boiled raw banana, chili powder, pepper powder, garam masala powder, ginger garlic paste, salt little (as we already added while boiling raw banana) and mix thoroughly.
- Heat a pan and add oil. Once oil gets heated add curry leaves. Then add marinated raw banana and fry for 7-8 mins until it turns crisp and cooked thoroughly. Raw Banana Fry is ready.
- Using the same method you can fry sweet potato and potato.
- Increase or decrease the spices according to your taste and preference.
- Roast it on low flame only until it turns crispy.
