Spicy baby potato fry is one of the simple and easy recipes which can be prepared in no time. This goes well with any rice dish or with Indian bread. Potatoes are one my favorite and can be relished in any form.
We enjoyed this thoroughly with Onion Sambar and Curd Rice. Potato fry and onion sambar or curd rice are always the best pairs. This potato fry is made with just simple ingredients that are available in your pantry. It is crispy on the outside and soft on the inside. Now let us see how to prepare this recipe.

- 250 gms Baby Potatoes
- 1/2 Onion
- 1 strand Curry leaves
- 1/4 tsp Turmeric powder
- 1 tsp Sambar powder to taste
- 1/2 tsp Pepper powder
- 3 Garlic pods
- salt to taste
- 1/2 tsp Mustard seeds
- 1/2 tsp Cumin seeds/Jeera
- 2 tbsp oil
- Finely chop onion. Coarsely crush garlic. Pressure cook baby potatoes in enough water with salt and pressure cook for 2-3 whistles. Peel the skin and keep aside.
- Heat a pan and add oil. Once oil gets heated add mustard seeds, cumin seeds. Let it crackle. Then add curry leaves, onion and saute till onion turns translucent. Then add crushed garlic and saute till raw smell goes. Now add turmeric powder, sambar powder, pepper powder and saute for a min.
- Now add boiled and peeled baby potatoes, salt to taste and sprinkle water little and mix thoroughly. Then cook till all masala is coated on the baby potatoes as shown. Spicy Baby Potato fry is ready.
- Pressure cook baby potatoes only for 2-3 whistles. Do not overcook.
- If you want it spicier you can even a slit green chili while sauteeing.
- Garlic gives a nice flavor to the fry. If you don't like garlic flavor you can skip it.
- Roast it thoroughly on low flame until all masalas are coated on the baby potatoes.
