Besan Ladoo is a famous Indian sweet which is made at festival times especially for Diwali. This ladoo is prepared using besan/gram flour, sugar and ghee as the key ingredients. Apart from this, you can use any dry fruits as well as grated coconut along with this.
This ladoo is very easy to prepare. To get the perfect flavored ladoos, roast besan in ghee on low flame until you get a nice aroma. This process takes at least 10-12 mins. Do not leave it unattended as this gets burnt easily. Then once you have roasted the besan thoroughly transfer it to a bowl and let it cool completely. Then add sugar and nuts and start making ladoos. If you add the proper proportion of besan, sugar, and ghee you will get the nice smooth ladoos as shown above. Now let us see how to prepare this recipe.

- 1 Cup Bengal gram flour/Kadalai Maavu/Besan
- 1/2 Cup Powdered Sugar
- 1/4 Cup Ghee
- 1 tsp Cardamom/Elachi powder
- 5-6 Almond/Badam finely chopped
- 10 Pistachios/Pista to garnish
- Heat a kadai and add ghee. Once ghee gets heated, add besan and stir it. Initially, it would be thick dough in consistency.
- After 5 min it starts to loosen. Keep on stir it until ghee starts to separate and a nice aroma comes from besan. It takes 10-12 mins to come to this stage. Now transfer this besan to a bowl and let it cool completely.
- Now add sugar, cardamom powder, chopped almond and crumble it thoroughly. Do not overmix or else it will start to release the ghee. Now take a lemon size dough and make into smooth ladoos. Garnish ladoos with pistachios.
- Saute besan until a nice aroma comes.
- Cool the besan completely and then add sugar. If you add sugar while besan is still hot it will turn to syrup and then you will not be able to make ladoos.
- As I had almond and pistachios I used it. Instead, you can even use cashews and raisins.
Delicious and yummy Besan Ladoo is ready to relish.
