Garlic Bread knots are made from the scratch using homemade pizza dough. These knots were very soft, airy and flavourful with garlic and herbs. This is a foolproof recipe where even a novice can bake without any hassle. Instead of the oven, I tried these knots in a pressure cooker and this turned out to be awesome.
Use the specified amount of ingredients and I am damn sure you will get the perfect soft knots as shown above. I have used instant yeast directly in the flour instead of active yeast. For better understanding the method I have attached a video too. While making this knot in the pressure cooker please follow all these steps given below.
Knead dough at least for 15 mins until it becomes soft. Let the dough rest at least for 2 hrs or until the dough is doubled in size. Make sure to have enough space in the cooker while placing the knot. The knot should not touch the lid, you should have at least some space in-between knot and lid. While cooking if the knot poofs and touches the lid it might get burnt. So make sure to have enough space. While baking in the cooker, remove the gasket and whistle from the lid. Cook on medium flame until it is done well.
The same recipe can be baked in the oven. Place the knots in the baking tray lined with parchment paper and bake it for about 12-15 mins on 180 degrees C. Now let us see how to prepare this recipe.

- 1.5 cups All purpose flour/Maida
- 1/2 tsp Instant Yeast
- 1 tsp Sugar
- 1 tsp salt
- 1 tbsp olive oil
- 1/2 cup+1tbsp Lukewarm Water
- 2 tbsp Butter at room temp
- 1 tbsp olive oil
- 1 tsp Mixed Herbs
- 1 tsp Chili Flakes
- 1 tbsp Parsley/Coriander leaves finely chopped
- 6 Garlic pods finely chopped
- 1/4 tsp salt
- In a bowl add all the ingredients under "To make dough" except water and mix thoroughly. Then add water little by little and make a smooth dough. You need to knead it at least for 15 mins. Then apply little oil in the bowl and on the dough and keep it in the bowl, so that dough will not get dried.
- Close the bowl with cling wrap or damp cloth and let it rest for 2 hrs or until the dough is doubled in size as shown in the pic. After two hours you can see how the dough is airy and light. Remove the dough from the bowl and place it on a working counter.
- Knead it lightly by adding a little flour to the dough. Now cut the dough into 12 equal pieces of the same size. Roll each piece into a 7-inch rope about 1/2 inch thick and tie into a knot tucking the ends.
- Place knots on the baking sheet lined with parchment paper. Let the knots rest for another half an hour. Meanwhile, prepare the garlic butter mixture. In a bowl add all the ingredients listed under "For Garlic Butter" and mix thoroughly.
- Brush each knot with half of garlic butter mixture. In a pressure cooker add a cup of salt. Remove gasket and whistle from the lid, close it and preheat it on high flame for 10 mins. After 10 mins place a ring and above the ring place the baking plate close the lid and cook on medium flame for 20-25 mins. After it is slightly browned on the top remove it from the cooker and place it on a wire rack to cool. Now apply remaining garlic butter on the knots and enjoy.
