Soya Cutlet is very rich in protein and it is healthy and nutritious as well. This cutlet can be prepared using either soya chunks or soya granules. In this recipe, I have used soya chunks.
This can be had as an evening snack along with a cup of coffee or tea. Soya chunks have high protein than eggs, meat, and milk. Those who don’t take non-veg can go for these soya chunks. Apart from this, it contains vitamins, minerals, and insoluble fiber. Its high content of magnesium has shown results in fighting insomnia. It’s also a good source of vitamin b, vitamin-K, riboflavin, and folate.
Here I have shown the simple method of preparing the soya cutlet. You can even add any veggies of your choice along with potato(like peas, grated carrot, cabbage or cauliflower or beet, etc). The option is endless. Now let us see how to prepare this recipe.

- 1/2 tsp Garam Masala Powder
- 2 tbsp Coriander Leaves/Kothamalli finely chopped
- 2 tbsp Bread crumbs

- In a bowl add soya chunks. Add required hot water so that soya chunks will soak and double its volume. Let the soya chunks sit in hot water for 15 mins or until soaked well.
- Boil 2 medium size potatoes. Peel and discard the skin. Grate potatoes using a grater. There should be no chunks.
- Once the soya chunks are soaked well. Drain the water. Squeeze the soya chunks until all the water is drained.
- Now place the soya chunks in a mixer jar and grind it coarsely without adding any water.
- In a wide bowl add the coarsely ground soya chunks. Along with this add grated potatoes and all the ingredients mentioned above except the oil.
- Now mix it thoroughly. There is no required to add water. Water in the soya chunks and the onions will do the work.
- Now take a lemon size dough and make it into a ball. Then flatten it using the palm and give it a nice patty shape. Make patties with the remaining dough.
- Once done keep the patties in the refrigerator for 30 mins to set.
- Now add oil in a pan. Once the oil gets heated add patties one by one. Do not disturb the patties at this stage. Let it cook until it turns golden brown.
- Once done, turn it to the other side and let it cook until it turns golden brown.
- Then place it on a kitchen towel to remove excess oil. Serve hot with ketchup or any chutney of your choice.
- The proportion of soya chunks and potatoes used must be equal.
- If you are not able to make patties or if it is getting broken add little extra bread crumbs or cornflour to bind the cutlet.
- You can even add gram flour to bind the cutlet.
